Cougar Academy 25 London Broncos 10 - COUGAR ACADEMY swept to their first victory overt the season -- claiming the scalp of Super League outfit London Broncos along the way.

The disappointment of last week's narrow defeat was put behind them as they demolished the Broncos own their own territory.

After the long trip to London Cougars took the lead with an early penalty from Peter Hilliam and their territorial domination was rewarded with a try for Adam Webster, with Hilliam converting. The score was followed in the next attack by an Andy Feather drop goal to extend the lead to 9-0.

London rallied, but after a brilliant Matt Steele break Tobias Williams crashed over in the corner for an unconverted try. The score raised Broncos to even greater efforts and just on half time they scored under the posts to reduce the lead to 13-6 at the break.

The second half opened with good Cougar pressure, Andy Feather dropping two goals to increase their lead, but the next phase of play belonged to the Broncos. They had the cougar defence stretched and scored out wide to make it 15-10, but the response by the Cougars was a joy to behold.

First a brilliant try by Jason Battle was disallowed, but not be deterred they regained the ball and swept to the other side allowing Webster to score his second try. At 19-10 the game appeared won and Andy McLelland went over in the corner to put the icing on the cake.

The return of man of the match Andy Feather complemented the leadership of skipper Matt Steel (right) who had his best game yet as ;the Cougars secured their first win over Super League opposition.
