Things are obviously going pretty well at the moment, but rest assured no one is getting carried away , there are plenty of games to go and we must continue to work hard if we are to keep up our good form.

One essential ingredient for success is 'Team Spirit' and I have to say the spirit in the camp is a good as anything I have encountered in my career. Obviously only 17 can make up the side for any one game but it will take a full squad to carry us through the season, last weekend we took a squad of 20 up to Workington, the three that were not playing were nonetheless part and parcel of the preparations and the game.

Karl Smith drew the short straw and helped Mossy on the side line and ran the water. Paul Ashton drew the shorter straw and helped me with the stats and Chris Hannah drew the shortest of all short straws by wearing the headset on the pitch side to pass messages between myself and Mossy (Chris was last seen lying down in a darkened room with a migraine ).

Last weekend saw us travel to Cumbria for the first of two visits to 'God's Country' as Olly Wilkes calls it, yes in case you didn't know Olly is from Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel. Haven't you noticed Oliver's hair cut, he's a dead ringer for the old comic with his spiky locks -- that's another fine mess you've got yourself into Olly.

Anyway, Mossy suggested to Ian Sinfield and Paul Ashton that it would be better for them to meet up with us 'just up the M6' at Tebay services, as they travel from Oldham.

"Great idea - thanks Mossy," say the lads. So we arranged to meet them at 10.30.

At 10.45 they roll up with Ashy driving and not looking best pleased, "just up the M6!" says Ashy to Mossy, after he'd clocked over 100 miles from his place to the services. "I'll remember not to ask you for any travel advice in the future."

"I was only trying to help," said Mossy.

"Well keep your suggestions to your self," said Ashy. "It's easy to tell you're a coach -- and not a coach driver!"

As I said to Mossy, there is just no pleasing some lads!
