TABLE-TOPPING Cougars are looking to keep their 100 per cent league run alive -- with victory over Barrow on Sunday.

A stunning second half display at Workington confirmed their place as top dogs in National League Division Two, and Gary Moorby's young side is looking more polished every week.

Town players were determined to impress their new boss, former Wigan and Great Britain star Billy McGinty, and they certainly didn't buckle despite taking a six-try pounding from the Keighley side in the second half.

After struggling to find their feet last season, the team is now showing its true potential and are serving up some tasty treats for fans who have stuck by them through the lean times.

"Cougar fans have always been something special and the hard core have stuck with the club through some difficult times, but now the lads are paying them back," Gary Moorby said.

After a stuttering start fans who made the trip to Workington enjoyed moments of pure magic that will feature well up the list when the highlights of the season are drawn up.

Simeon Hoyle enjoyed an impresive game and is developing into a true fans' favourite. Matt Foster showed he has truly reganined his appetite for the game with two classy tries, and he set up Andy Robinson with a pass out of the tackle which was simply breathtaking.

After the game Moorby said: "I must admit we were always confident of getting a result in Cumbria but the final score was better then I dared hope. They came at us with plenty of enthusiasm which made us work very hard, particularly in the first half.

"We didn't help ourselves as we tried to force the ball too often which resulted in mistakes. In the second half we controlled the ball much better, and we went on to win comfortably.

"To be fair to Workington they never gave up which made the final result all the more pleasing. We kept going for the full 80 minutes, which is another step in the right direction for us."

On Sunday they will be trying to put right last season's final humiliation, when they were beaten 52-10 at Barrow in the last game of the campaign.

"Barrow won their first three league fixtures but have lost their last two games which were both at home. They are a typical Cumbrian side with a strong pack of forwards and once again our six will have to win the battle up front.

"No doubt if we do that, our backs will click into gear and look to score some points.

"We were on the wrong end of a Cumbrian thrashing last September, the lads are eager to put that one to bed and demonstrate how far we have come on since then," he said.
