Danny Forrest has not yet signed his City contract.

Simon Francis last month put pen to paper on a first professional deal that will tie him to the club until the end of the 2005-2006 season. But fellow starlet Forrest has not followed suit.

Chairman Gordon Gibb, though, made it clear there was no cause for alarm among supporters who have quickly hailed the 18-year-old striker as a goal-scoring hero for the future.

Gibb said: "The offer was made to Danny at the same time as the one with Simon Francis but I've had no feedback from him or his agent.

"But fans should be comfortable in the knowledge that even if he doesn't sign, Danny will be here for the next three years.

"The minimum we can expect are his contractual limitations which is the next three seasons."

Forrest has one more year on his scholarship to run but clubs can extend it to a fourth or fifth campaign - an option City would exercise if he did not agree to sign on full terms.

Keighley-born Forrest scooped the club's goal of the season award for a spectacular overhead kick against Walsall and was was rewarded with a call-up for England under-18s for a friendly in Germany.

Forrest has been overlooked for the Lisbon international tournament which kicks off on Friday. But Francis is in the England squad to face Portugal, Sweden and Spain.
