A cherished number plate that once adorned the gleaming Bentley of former Bradford City Football Club chairman Geoffrey Richmond is up for grabs.
The registration 1 GR is being sold by a company in Halifax, alongside 1 MR and ER 1 which were in the stable of Mr Richmond (pictured) and his family.
The 1 GR plate was the prized plate on Mr Richmond's Bentley. Today he declined to comment about the sale.
But Brian Parkinson, director of Walker Singleton, chartered surveyors, auctioneers and asset sellers, of Halifax, said the company was seeking tenders for all the number plates.
He said the firm had written to famous people with the initials GR, ER and MR to see if they would be interested in tendering, but would not be drawn on who they might be.
"We have sent people mailshots, although they may prefer to retain discreet numbers so nobody knows it's them." He said the firm was simply seeking the best deal for the vendor.
"Our job is simply to sell the number for the best price we can," Mr Parkinson said.
"In terms of what a good price is it's a very difficult area to predict, but obviously we see them as potentially very valuable."
Mr Parkinson, who has a personalised number plate himself of LOT 245, said he could not predict how much it might make.
"We are not in the business of saying they are worth £100,000, £50,000 or £10,000 - they will find their value on the market."
The most expensive number plate ever sold was K1 NGS - which netted £231,000 in a 1990 auction, according to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority.
Tenders for 1 GR must be in by 12 noon on Tuesday, June 17 and 12 noon on Wednesday, July 2 for the other two.
Also for sale by the company are 1 SGL and 2 SGL.
