It was an important day in the calendar for St. Thomas's Church, Sutton, when members of the Craven District Council, headed by their new chairman, Councillor T. Carter, attended a civic service. Coun. Carter read a passage from the Old Testament and Mr E. Gilbert Sharp, chief executive officer, read a passage from the New Testament.
