Almost 1,000 workers at the Bradford tractor firm of International Harvester Ltd, who have been laid off for up to two weeks, may be back at work later this week. A four- week strike by clerical staff at the company's Doncaster factories has lead to a shortage of work, forcing Bradford management to lay off 720 hourly-paid employees two weeks ago. About 200 shop-floor workers were also laid off last week.

Bradford Rugby Football Club showed a net profit of £372.9s.4d. for the year ended April 30. Membership subscriptions were up by £70 and the county championship final brought in over £180. On the payments side, ground expenses increased from £398 to £623. The annual meeting will be at the clubroom, Lidget Green, next Monday (7.30pm).
