Yorkshire Water warned of discolouration in Low Moor, Wyke, Scholes and Cleckheaton today.

And the firm warned it could take several hours to clear.

Yorkshire Water advises customers with discoloured water wanting some for drinking or cooking to run the tap fed first from the water supply for several minutes (usually the kitchen tap), fill a jug and leave until the sediment has settled and pour the clear water from the top of the jug for use.

The company said in their experience there are no health implications as a result of drinking and using this water. But it warned home-owners not to use washing machines or dishwashers or use the hot tap.

For emergency help contact the Bradford emergency helpline on 0845 1 24 24 28.

Yorkshire Water is also warning of on-going traffic delays as a result of a major revamp of the company's water mains in Bradford. For a weekly update on roadworks in Bradford, e-mail Bradford.Roadworks@yorkshirewater.co.uk. To receive a weekly update by post, call 0845 1 24 24 28.
