Yeadon showed some battling spirit when they met Spen Victoria on Saturday showing some pride in their play after a disastrous performance against Pudsey Congs.
Yeadon made a good start at Spen with young opener James Todd making a useful 23 before being stumped by former Esholt wicketkeeper John Barton off the bowling of Kez Ahmed.
Todd shared a first wicket stand of 59 with Harvey Anderson who was first out for 36. He was Ahmed's first victim and the seam bowler went on to claim the first five Yeadon wickets to fall and finished with 5-28.
After reaching 74-1 Yeadon then seemed to lose it before Jamie Kennaway (31) and young skipper Grant Soames (21) settled things again with a sixth wicket stand of 37. There was little more to offer though and Yeadon finished on 144 all out.
Yeadon's bowlers caused some early scares with John Roper continuing to help the beleagured club out despite having 'retired'.
He dismissed opener Gharib Razak lbw for 25 and picked up another wicket as Spen struggled at 46 for four but then Peter Jackson, promoted from Spen's second team, extinguished their hopes with an unbeaten 59 which included two sixes and ten fours.
Spen passed the Yeadon total with five wickets in hand to go level with Baildon in third place.
Yeadon will be hoping that luck turns their way when they entertain fellow strugglers Idle on Saturday and play them again away from home in the cup on Sunday. Idle however notched their first win of the season last Saturday.
They had a 93 runs win over Pudsey St Lawrence with former Yeadon spinner Mark Nicklin hitting an unbeaten 40 and then taking 2-6.
Former Guiseley youngster Chris Thompson, who earlier in the week played for Yorkshire Under-19s along with Yeadon's James Todd, had 3-23.
Yeadon Seconds suffered their first defeat of the season being restricted to 154-9 by Hartshead Moor who knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets.
The club has re-signed Paul Machell from Otley but the overseas player will not now materialise. Chris Henry is due back in mid-June but his brother Jonny is out for the season.
