The weather finally made a blazing appearance and it was the bowlers who took full benefit from drying wickets.

Haworth West End batted first in their meeting with Embsay and struggled to 57-9 in their 45 overs. Stephen Speak bowled 17 overs to finish with 4-4 as George Stubley top scored with 25no. Duncan Ward made 24no as the victory was achieved by seven wickets.

Still doggedly following one point behind the leaders come Long Lee, who meet Embsay at Shires Lane this weekend. They dismissed Skipton CI for 68 with Chris Taylor taking 4-22, Matt Taylor 3-7 and Paul Swindlehurst 3-13. Paul Stowell, with 27no, led the Keighley side to a comfortable eight-wicket victory.

There was drama at Cure Hill as the homesters claimed a narrow five-run victory after being dismissed for 70 in 24 overs. On a seaming wicket Neil Robinson 4-42 and John Duffy 3-16 put the home side on the rack. Skipper James Heseltine chipped in with 3-8 as Chris Mooney top scored with a crucial 27. The visitors were then in all sorts of trouble themselves. Michael Scarborough 4-17, Andy Dawson 2-11 and Graham Rankin 2-11 used the conditions well.

Denholme suffered defeat again, this time at the hands of visitors Haworth. Paddy Clarke made 50 as the home side reached 159. The Bronte side passed that for the loss of six wickets with Jamie Rowell making 59.

Barrowford were in fine form at home to Cowling and they amassed 212-9 in their overs. Neil Hargreaves anchored the innings with 72 and Ajmal Choudry hit 70. Steve Mitchell was the best bowler finishing with 3-45. He followed up with 42 as the South Craveners replied with 138, Farouk Shaezed taking 5-23.

Cullingworth's journey to Thornton proved to be fruitless as the Booth Bridge Lane side won by five wickets. The visitors were dismissed for 127 then Kevin Pollard 41 and Robert Foster 31 saw the West Craveners to the points.

The leaders of the Second Division were humbled to a 94 run defeat at home to Pendle Forest. Andy Townsend with 31 helped the Fence side to 167 as David Holdsworth claimed 6-41. G Coward 4-9 and R Ellis 4-13 then put the South Craveners to the sword.

Sutton remain top because second placed Ingrow also slumped to defeat at Chatburn. The Ribblesdale side plundered 202 with Stuart Draycott making 70 and Andrew Booth 57 as I Roberts took 4-46. The Keighley side were dismissed for 121 with John Lockley taking 5-29.

Glusburn join Ingrow on 11 points after they thumped Ingrow St Johns by seven wickets at Street Lane. Colin Bottomley did his best to hold the Saints' innings together with 53. However Mick Baxter who finished with the incredible figures of 2-2-0-4 undid his work, the closing total being 113. Baxter followed this with 37no to go with Alan Thornley's 40 which took the visitors to the points.

Airedale plundered 231-8 at Gargrave. This was 168 too many for the homesters.

Carleton opened their winning account with a three-wicket win at Foulridge. The Noyna side were dispatched for 106 with Matthew Lutz making 26. Tom Stephenson took 5-35 as the Ramper Park side waltzed to the spoils.

Jimmy Nelson's skipper Andy Makin made 58 of his side's 163 as they entertained Cononley. The visitors cruised home by five wickets thanks to a fine knock of 109 by Craig Watts.

Oakworth enjoy a three-point lead at the top of Division Three following their victory at Airedale and Barrowford's unexpected defeat at Cowling.

The Cure Hill side restricted Airedale to 118 then knocked off the runs for the loss of seven wickets.

At Cowling, The Bull Holme side were held to 123-8 with Nick Staveley taking 3-22. It took the efforts of two seasoned campaigners, Martin Rishton 55no and Steve Dalby 41 to get the home side home.

Haworth move into second place after thumping visitors Ingrow St John's by nine wickets. The Saints were dismissed for 77 with Adam Balderstone taking 4-7, Ross Balderstone 3-23 and Richard Ellis 3-35. Colin Williamson made 42no for the Bronte side.

Embsay bounced back after two defeats to notch up a solid 108 run victory at Pendle Forest. The Shires Lane side made 211-5 with Nas Hussain scoring 72, Andy Bell 52, Brian Hodgson 42 and skipper Alan Robinson 36. Hussain followed this with 5-35 to go with Marc Robson's 5-44 as victory was achieved.

Long Lee's trip to Skipton CI ended in misery as they went down by four wickets. The Sandylanders had John Stuttard with 5-40 to thank for holding the Keighley side to 93.

Thornton's recent poor run continued as they went down by three wickets at Cullingworth. Russell Hogg taking 6-35 for the winners.

Bradley have a narrow one-point lead at they top of the Fourth Division, they encountered few problems at home to Gargrave. First they rattled up 221-8 thanks mainly to a fine 114 by Andrew Curtis as S Moon took 4-57. In the reply of 83 Ashley Walmsley claimed 5-19.

Heading the group of three, a point behind the leaders, are Glusburn who beat leaders Denholme by six wickets. For the visitors Phil Poole jnr made 80 of his side's 113. R M Smith was the most successful bowler, finishing with 6-20, before T Akbar made 31no for the winners.

Keighley TC come next after seeing off a spirited Sutton by 36 runs at Rose Cottage. Warren Coppack top scored with 55 as the homesters made 184. Then Dean Woolley with 7-50 helped the visitors back to the hut for 148. Tony Walton 4-55 and Alan Parker 32 were the best performers for the losers.

Chatburn came unstuck for the second week running. On their travels to Ingrow, they dismissed the homesters for 87 with R Braithwaite taking a splendid 9-33. However this was six too many for the Ribblesdale side as S Khan took 5-16

Foulridge had a convincing win away to Long Lee III.

The Noyna side posted a total of 148-9 thanks mainly to 57 from veteran skipper Bernard Swarbrick. The homeside were then shot out for 80 by a devastating piece if bowling by youngster James Morville, who, in an amazing 10 over spell, took a career best 8-29.

Finally at Cononley there was a close, high scoring game with Pendle Forest III. The visitors reached 214-9, with David Hall scoring 43 before retiring, and Roland Lyons 34. Kendall Gott 53 and Chris Lumsden 40no did their best to get the home side home but they finished agonisingly seven runs short.
