THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD Hannah Ellis, became the star of Bradford Ladies cricket team - in her first game for the club.

Hannah, who opens the batting for Oakworth's Under-13 team took her place in the Ladies team against a Leeds XI at Idle.

Her bowling stood the test of playing against adults for the first time with two wickets for seven runs in her spell.

When she went in to bat Bradford were five for three and in dire straits.

Thirty overs later she walked off to a standing ovation from the appreciative crowd, having notched up 33 runs and completely reversed her team's fortunes.

Team managers were delighted at her debut contribution and she may now be called to the Yorkshire County nets to see just how far she can go in the game she loves.

It was Hannah's second victory of the day as she was a member of Oaks Under-13s who trounced Silsden by 42 runs in the morning. Her older brother Jack was also on the winning side in Oaks win over Keighley in the first ever meeting of the two clubs at Under-15 level.

The Oakworth club is very proud of Hannah as the first girl at the club to really get to grips with the game of cricket. Last season she was awarded the club's top trophy the SA Labels Cup in recognition of her first 'retirement' score. This season she has become the Under-13s regular opener and has scored heavily in all matches to date.

Earlier this season she stood in for the Oaks Under-15s at Denholme and captured a wicket with her first ball.

Team manager Jeff Hobson said: "Hannah's parents Judith and Chris are very proud to support her and are keen that she continues to play cricket with her mates at Oakworth."
