HARD-WORKING milkman Colin Robinson has won a customer service award for deliveries to Westhouse, Ingleton and Newby.

Colin, 43, of New Village, Ingleton, has been voted runner-up in a Milkman of the Year 2003 award after just ten months on his rounds. He took on his new role last August after a job driving wagons.

He started by delivering milk in the Ingleton area then built up a new customer base in Kirkby Lonsdale. He now regularly completes two milk rounds a day.

Dairy firm Arla said Colin has scooped the award because of the warm praise he had won from his customers and the large quantity of votes cast for him.

"I was very surprised. It came totally out of the blue," he said. "I really enjoy my new job and it means a lot to know that my customers are pleased."
