These are the appalling injuries suffered by a man brutally mugged for his wallet as he walked his dog.
Keith Harrison's wife was barely able to recognise him when he stumbled back to his house after the late night attack.
The 48-year-old electrical contractor was set upon by a group of youths in Tong Street, Bradford. He was knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly in the face by the yobs who threatened to kill him unless he handed over cash.
His Alastian dog, Sam, fled in panic. Beaten in and out of consciousness, Mr Harrison was left lying in his own blood with injuries to his eyes, nose, and jaw, and damage to his teeth. His attackers took £80 they found on him.
"I was walking back home when these lads just appeared" said Mr Harrison, of Denbrook Avenue, who lives 400 yards from the scene of the attack.
"The next thing I knew I was on the floor. They said they would kill me unless they got their money. I don't think they even said very much, they just started to attack me. I just don't know where they came from.
"All I remember is when they had gone there was somebody asking me if I was all right. I don't know who they were. I just said that I wanted my dog, which had run off. I found it and then I walked home - if you can call it walking."
His wife, Alison, 38, a nurse at St James's Hospital, Leeds, called the police as soon as he returned home. They arrived within ten minutes and he was taken for treatment at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
His right eye was so badly damaged that he could barely see, and he had cuts to his left eye and bruising to his nose. His jaw, which was operated on some years ago, was also damaged, and most of his teeth were dislodged.
He now has trouble speaking clearly because his lips are so badly swollen.
The attackers were white, aged 15 to 20. Police today confirmed they are investigating the incident which occurred on Wednesday at 11.14pm.
Mr Harrision's father, Geoffrey, 76, said: "It's very upsetting to see your son in that state. It was his birthday only the day before as well. It wasn't exactly a nice birthday present for him.
"I just thought that people in Bradford should know what sort of things are going on in their city. We hear about it every day - people being mugged, rubbish thrown everywhere.
"Bradford used to be a lovely city. I think it's the worst and dirtiest in the country now."
