Silsden rider Dougie Lampkin

made a welcome return to winning ways when he won the third round of the Spanish Championship in Bossot.

With the trial situated less than five kilometres from the French border, it incorporated a round of both the French and Spanish championship, with over 150 riders taking part.

Due to the mammoth entry the competitors were allowed a massive seven and a half hours to complete the two laps of 16 sections, as queuing at sections became very much the order of the day.

Despite arriving late due to mising his connecting flight from the UK, Lampkin took control of the event from the start to put himself back in front of the championship.

Lampkin dominated the opening lap, clearing all 16 sections with only mistakes in the very last part of the competition spoiling a truly perfect ride.

"Although I made it hard for myself at the end, I feel I more than deserved the victory," said Lampkin.

"With little time to make adjustments to the bike for the high altitude, I thought I might have struggled a bit, but thankfully even in my absence the team was working hard on my behalf.

"It's an important victory for me as it comes after a not so good run. It is especially good as it is against a full line-up of riders, which hasn't been the case in more recent weeks.

"I now need to use this victory as a kick-start to the second part of the season."
