Bradford are on course for a second successive Yorkshire Inter-Union League title - if they can overcome Sheffield at Sickleholme on June 22.

There is still a long way to go for the golf title-holders but last weekend's marvellous 25-11 victory over Leeds at West Bowling has put the team in a buoyant mood.

Skipper Neil Harker-Bell said: "We still have East Riding away as well as Sheffield but the way we beat Leeds was more than I could have hoped for."

Harker-Bell had praise for the whole team but singled out Chris Hargreaves.

"Chris was back for the first time in a a while. He partnered me and we won our match in the morning. Chris then went on to win his singles in the afternoon."

Hargreaves, who plays for Baildon, had injury problems last season but is showing fine form in a side which is nicely balanced with youth and experience.

"The Sheffield match is a big one for us but so is East Riding away," said Harker-Bell. "We are not taking anything for granted."

Bradford were able to field a strong side against Leeds with leading players Darryl Berry and Richard Wheatley winning their foursomes with some ease.

Sheffield limbered up for the forthcoming clash against Bradford by crushing Halifax-Huddersfield 30-6.

They will be hell-bent on revenge after losing to Bradford on the final day of last season at Northcliffe. A last-green drama brought the title to Bradford for the first time since 1996 - and they will not want to lose the trophy without an almighty fight.
