A former student of Parkwood Primary School returned for the first time in 65 years.
George Butterfield, who attended between 1931 and 1939, visited the school to look around and give a talk to its current pupils in a special assembly.
He said: "Today is like walking down memory lane for me. It is very nice to come back."
The idea came after Mr Butterfield said he would like to come back at some point and was invited by teacher Enid Bennett.
George, who now lives in Baildon, left at 11 years old to attend Keighley Boys' Grammar School.
He later moved to the front of the classroom, becoming a teacher until he retired 12 years ago.
He said: "I have had a look around. The building is pretty much the same on the outside but the inside is very different.
"It is great to come inside because I have never been inside since I left.
"It is a building that has stood up very well in many ways. I have been retired only 12 years but it is surprising how much has changed in all schools now."
The 76-year-old was born in Keighley and lived at Thwaites.
When he first came to the school it was on two different sites, and for his first years he was taught in another building on the same road.
He said: "I gave a talk to the pupils about my time at the school and gave them a moral lesson."
