COUGARS will be selecting from a full squad as they plan to claim their seventh league victory, against Gateshead on Sunday -- with Jason Ramshaw having a late fitness test on bruised ribs.
The former team captain was taken out by a late tackle during the team's 28-15 victory over Barrow as they extended their winning run in National League 2 to six games.
The victory has left them on top of the table, and they are now the team all the others are desperate to beat. The visit of Gateshead could be another test of the side's professionalism.
The North East club has invested heavily in recruiting new players and are determined to make headway in the professional game this season.
Coach Gary Moorby has called on his players to give a 'Professional' performance and wants to see them maintaining concentration throughout the 80 minutes.
"We had two tricky games against Gateshead last year and although we won both of them we were made to fight very hard.
"They are a better side this season and have put up some very good performances so far. I have told the players that we need a very professional performance, and if we can achieve that then we will get the result," he said.
Fans' favourite Danny Ekis represented the national League Under-21s against Super League Under-21s on Tuesday with the part-timers putting up a good display in the first half. The Super League squad were rampant after the break racing to a 52-12 win.
Keighley-born players Richard Moore (Bulls) and Andy Bailey (Featherstone) were playing in the game.
Other Keighley lads playing in the professional ranks include Chris Feather (Leeds), Tommy Haughey (London Broncos) and Chris Roe (Swinton).
Gary Moorby said: "All these guys are still under 21 and I cannot help but think that they should be playing for their home town team.
"I am not suggesting that players should not be ambitious and if the bright lights are beckoning that they should not go, of course I moved on during my playing career. However, it seems such a shame that Keighley as a town is producing quality players and yet they are parading their talents elsewhere.
"Hopefully with our youth development programme now firmly in place at Cougar Park we will continue to produce quality players that will want to stay and be part of a successful club. It is up to us as a club to provide the right environment that talented players want to be associated with, let's hope we can build on our current success and make Keighley Cougars a team that players want to play for."
Cougars are also hoping for a bumper home crowd on Sunday as they aim to extend the winning run to seven games.
"It would be great if our regular fans could bring a friend to share the Cougar experience. We are playing some fantastic rugby at the moment and the lads deserve all the support they can get.
"The local people will also help us build the team and support young local players like those in the Academy who pulled up an impressive draw against Salford last weekend," Moorby said.
