THE latest in internet technology will arrive in Barnoldswick shortly.
The date of the long-awaited BT Broadband connection will be decided today (Friday), now that residents and businesses in the town have reached the "trigger level" of applications for the service.
Barnoldswick was already well on the way to reaching the 350-application target, but on Monday BT celebrated its one millionth customer and cut all trigger levels nationwide by 50, meaning the town was automatically placed on the list for connection.
Matthew Cook, of the town's Rainhall Road, runs a small business building computers and networks. He said: "It's great that we are finally getting the service. Broadband makes using the internet quicker, easier and much more convenient than it has been up until now."
The broadband service connects new technology to the town's telephone cables, allowing digital information to be passed through at a much higher speed.
Brian Crouch, BT regional director for the North West, said: "I am delighted to announce that Barnoldswick has hit its trigger level and that BT will be bringing the benefits of broadband to the local community."
