International pianist John Briggs has followed in his mum's wake by being awarded an MBE for his work with Sea Cadets.
For the past 16 years he has been president of Keighley Sea Cadets, helping steer the organisation through stormy waters.
His award comes seven years after his mum, Gladys, in her 80s, was also honoured with an MBE for her work in keeping the unit afloat.
She retired last year after 15 years as chairman of the unit, which is based in Waddington Street, Keighley, and has about 40 cadets. Together they were inspirational in leading a £100,000 refurbishment of the centre after it moved from dilapidated quarters in Cross Roads.
Mr Briggs, of Little Lane, East Morton, said: "I'm very proud - we now have two in one family. I've told the wife she'll have to get cracking to make it three.
"I'm especially pleased because it's for something entirely not related to my work.
"I'm very proud of the cadets. I've seen many of them grow up into fine people - I've seen some come back from Iraq and kids I have known have joined the Royal Marines and the Royal Navy.
"I believe the Sea Cadets has given youngsters a chance they would not have had."
As a concert pianist, Mr Briggs, 55, has performed around the world.
