A SOUTH Craven School pupil who was involved in a horrific accident in Ibiza last year is returning to the country to thank those who helped her.
Charlotte Neild was hit by a scooter while crossing the road last summer. She was rushed to intensive care with a fractured skull. It was later discovered that she had a blood clot and a bone had gone through her brain.
The youngster spent three weeks in hospital, battling for her life, and suffered memory loss and difficulties studying when she returned to England.
Now fully recovered, Charlotte, from Oakworth, is determined to have the enjoyable holiday she should have had the first time.
"I'm going to exactly the same place, with the people I went with
before, my dad and step mother," she said. "My parents were a bit cautious about me going back, but everyone knows it's not going to happen again. I decided to go back because I wasn't going to let something like that make me frightened of going on holiday, but I am a little bit nervous.
"I am going to go back to the hospital to see the nurses because they really kept me going."
Charlotte's experiences will be filmed by the BBC and shown on its "Passport to the Sun" pro-gramme.
The year ten pupil, who lived in Cowling at the time of the incident, says she has now made a full recovery. "When I came back to school I was having problems remembering things and had to write everything down. I still don't have a fantastic memory but I am much better now," she said.
