Keighley Golf Club professional Mike Bradley won the Northern Rock North East Masters in dramatic fashion.
The 35-year-old, whose tournament schedule is restricted by coaching commitments locally, scored a 14-under-par three-round total which included a 67 final round on the Matfen Hall course.
Going into the final round, Bradley was a shot behind Jon Cheetham (Mobberley) who broke the course record with an opening 63. Both fired matching three-under-par 33s for the opening nine - and then Bradley stepped up the tempo and was leading by two shots after the 15th.
But he nearly blew it on the final hole when he hooked his ball into the river.
Bradley recovered to win the tournament by a single shot after sinking a 15-foot putt.
"I was not nervous on the last but I think I lost my concentration because I had a bad swing," said Bradley. "It was agonising watching the ball go into the water but I played a great putt, which is something I'd been doing regularly over the three days.
"Even when I'm not playing a lot I always feel I can still go out and do the business."
Bradley picked up a cheque for £2,750 for the win.
He last dusted down his clubs earlier in the season when he qualified for the Glenmuir Club Professional Championship. His last big win was the De Vere Hotels City of Leeds Cup in 1999.
