The offer of an EEC subsidy to give free milk to more children may be spurned in Bradford because of the risk to fat children. Bradford Council Educational Services Committee decided yesterday to seek "objective medical opinion" before taking up the offer. Councillor Terence Shaw told the Committee: "I have serious misgivings as to the value of extending the scheme of giving milk to schoolchildren".

A thief wearing rubber soles and heels with round markings has made two trips to Girlington recreation grounds, Bradford, presumably after dark, and as a result 24 dahlia plants are missing. It is obvious that the intruder is a man who knows all about plants for he has " hand picked " them from the soil. One or two which were not so good were left behind.
