School children in Cleckheaton are being urged to shop drug dealers to a confidential helpline.
Young people in Kirklees are being told about the Dob in a Dealer campaign after secondary school head teachers agreed to work on an initiative with police chiefs.
The scheme, run in conjunction with Crimestoppers as part of CRACKDOWN in Kirklees - A Community Against Drugs, will urge pupils to ring anonymously with information.
In return, officers from the new district drugs team will act on relevant information and arrest suspected drug dealers.
The Dob in a Dealer scheme, running since March, aims to disrupt local drug markets. So far more than 235 people have called in with valuable information.
"The vast majority of young people do not agree with drugs and want to do something about the problem but don't know how to approach the issue," said Chief Superintendent John Holt.
"They might not want to talk to a teacher or a parent but may be inclined to pick up the phone and speak to someone anonymously."
Superintendent John Cocliff added "We are also keen to make sure that young people resist drugs and lead healthy, crime-free lives."
Anyone with information can Dob in a Dealer by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. Calls to Crimestoppers are not traced or taped and you do not have to give your name. It is a free call and does not show up on an itemised bill.
