A lost parrot has been spotted in Keighley and its owners are urging people to keep a look out in the area for the talkative bird.

Izzy is a five-year-old Alexan-drian ring-necked parakeet who went missing from his home in Wibsey, Bradford, two weeks ago.

His owner, Clive Black, says Izzy was sighted in Keighley on Tuesday of last week.

Clive said: "He has been seen in Keighley apparently, towards Bingley and we think he might be flying between Keighley and Bradford.

"The birds can cover two miles a day and it's unlikely he would go further than a ten mile radius.

"We have had various sightings in Wyke and Farsley and we just want people in Keighley to keep an eye out too and let us know if they see him."

Izzy is described is a green parakeet with an orangey-red ring around his neck, a big, red beak with a black moustache and 28in long tail feathers.

Clive added: "He talks all the time and is a very friendly bird. He is five years old and we homed him when he was three after he was found randomly in someone's garden. He possibly went missing like he has now but since we've had him he's never gone like this.

"It was basically a freak accident where the bottom of the cage I was carrying him in outside fell out and scared him and he flew off. We are optimistic he can survive in this weather -- it's warm enough and there is a lot of food about for him. He is such a character and we really miss him, he's become part of the family."

Clive said that people should contact him or phone Bradford RSPCA if they saw Izzy .

He said the best way to catch the bird would be to throw a coat over him, scoop him up and take him inside.
