Yorkshire were left shell-shocked by Worcestershire paceman Kabir Ali who grabbed eight wickets on the first morning of the championship match at the Scarborough Cricket Festival.

Kabir snatched the first seven wickets to fall in just 9.3 overs from the pavilion end at a cost of only 29 runs and he struck again after Matt Mason had denied him the opportunity of taking all ten.

Yorkshire were then 93 for nine but Richard Dawson smashed the ball around in a last-wicket stand with Steven Kirby which pushed Yorkshire on to 130 for nine.

The slide began in the first over after Anthony McGrath had won the toss on his return to the side.

A full-length inswinger struck Matthew Wood on the pads and umpire Barrie Leadbeater had no hesitation in giving him out.

Kabir then struck twice with consecutive deliveries. First McGrath was pinned lbw on the crease and then Michael Lumb went the same way. It was a particularly disappointing dismissal for Lumb in his first innings for Yorkshire as a capped batsman.

Vic Craven offered no stroke at Kabir and was bowled, before Fleming, who had made 31 from 41 balls, also played no stroke and was out lbw.

Kabir then made it six out of six by finding the inside edge of Simon Guy's bat. White edged to Solanki at third slip before Mason knocked back Andy Gray's off-stump with a yorker.

Chris Silverwood then drove Kabir to Shaftab Khalid at wide mid-off to give him figures of eight for 42.
