After years of campaigning for cattle grids Baildon people have suffered another setback. The Government has ordered a public enquiry. Details have yet to be announced but it could be another 12 months before the grids are in place and fences erected even if approval for the scheme is given.

Darlington are anxious to secure the services of Eddie Carr, Bradford City centre-forward or inside-forward, who it is understood, today visited Darlington for discussions. Carr joined City from Newport County in 1949, and last season passed the 100-goal mark in peacetime League football. He assisted Bradford and Huddersfield as a "guest" player in wartime matches, while an Arsenal registered player.
