The Bradford church Gareth Gates' family attends was today sticking by the teenage star despite reports it felt "let down" by his fling with Jordan.

One newspaper report claimed he was no longer welcome at the Abundant Life Centre in Undercliffe.

It said the church was furious he had lied about the relationship and felt "let down".

But today a church spokesman said the story had not come from anybody at the church.

She said: "Gareth is welcome at the church and always has been. The report has not come from anybody here."

A spokesman for Gareth, said: "The church has always been totally supportive of Gareth.

"As far as I know, this is not true at all."

Gareth, formerly of East Bowling, now 19, says he denied the relationship initially to protect Jordan but in the end had to admit it.

Meanwhile Gareth's sister Nicola tonight springs a surprise on TV's Mr Nasty.

A trailer for the show has revealed Nicola Gates applied for the new series under the name of Nicola G.

But bad-guy judge Simon Cowell is all smiles when he realises just who she is when she comes before the judges' panel.

"So you're the mysterious Nicola G," he says.

Nicola is two years younger than Gareth, who was runner-up to Will Young in the first series and is now a teen sensation.

Since he shot to fame he has bought his family a £500,000 luxury home near Bingley and has a massive following across the world.

But it is understood Nicola does not have the same success as her big brother and fails to make it through to the the final 50.

The judges concede her singing has matured from when she appeared in the first series' auditions.

But then Simon hits top form telling her it's "not enough" to be Gareth's sister.

She was understood to be gutted after the failed audition in London and both her and mum Wendy leave in tears.
