Skipton police has announced that a joint initiative to curb nuisance attacks at Craven Bowling Club has been an overwhelming success.
In May club members who train at the green behind Skipton Town Hall complained of ongoing problems and incidents during which youths had been playing football on the green, throwing things about and generally causing trouble.
Sergeant Martin Hick spearheaded a campaign in conjunction with the bowling club to cut the number of offences.
He said he was pleased to announce that since its launch there have been no reported nuisance incidents.
The plan of attack began with an emergency meeting between the police and the bowlers.
It was followed by having the site monitored regularly by closed circuit television, sending out 12 letters to nuisance youths and police patrolling the club 29 times including during competitions.
Sergeant Hick said: "Since we have got this operation up and running. it has been a complete success."
He added that the hard work would continue.
Club secretary Mick Demain said he had written a letter of thanks to the police for their support.
He said there had been no nuisance problems during the last couple of months and members were really enjoying their sport.
