A service was held at the weekend to mark the rededication of a monument in honour of six firefighters who died following an explosion at a Bradford munitions works during the First World War.
The memorial - to commemorate the 40 people who lost their lives on August 21 1916 during the explosion at the Low Moor Munitions Company - was originally put up at the site of the firefighters' graves in Scholemoor Cemetery but over time suffered deterioration and damage.
The campaign to relocate the monument to a safer and more prominent position at the West Yorkshire Fire Service headquarters in Birkenshaw began more than a year ago and was backed by a huge fundraising campaign.
Yesterday guests, including surviving relatives of those killed and injured in the incident, were welcomed to the service by Chief Fire officer Phil Toase.
Hymns were sung and a history of the monument given by Deputy Chief Fire Officer Kevin Arbuthnot.
