HYDE UNITED 1 Farsley CELTIC 1; Farsley held their nerve to remain unbeaten as they earned a creditable draw at Hyde United last night in the UniBond Division One.
Following their opening day home victory against Rossendale United they took a 1-0 lead on the stroke of half-time but were pegged back with a little over 12 minuets remaining.
Last season's leading scorer for the Celts, Michael Midwood, missed the first game of the new campaign but wasted no time in underlining his worth to the side.
With seconds to go until the break Amjad Iqbal made a searing run but was forced wide. He crossed from the right-hand side of the area and Ben Austin turned the ball back into the centre for Midwood to dispatch a fierce 14-yard drive.
The goal came minutes after Celtic had lost their best two players of the first half. The injured Danny Spence was taken off in the 43rd minute and was soon followed by centre back Damien Henderson who pulled a hamstring.
The leveller came via a thunderous Phil Salt strike from outside the area that nestled in the top right-hand corner of the net.
The home side hit the post five minutes from time in a tense finish but the visitors held on for a deserved away point. New boss Lee Sinnott will be more than happy to have guided his side through the first two games earning a return of four points.
