A new film shot entirely in Bradford, using actors living in the city, is to be shown this weekend at The Priestley.
The drama, called Yaadon Ka Safar, or Journey of Memories, is a tale of the divisions caused by traditions and cultures in the lives of ordinary people. It was filmed city locations including Bradford College, Saltaire Park and Bradford Interchange.
The film features young people speaking about sacrifices they must make for the sake of their parents. The film-makers aim to show that despite growing up in England, young Asians still respect traditions and customs of their parent's homeland.
"Children will respect their parents' ways even though they might have to sacrifice their own love" said director, Riaz Yaqoob.
"I'm not saying this is a good thing but it happens."
Mr Maquoob said he had searched for actors with no previous experience, to give the film a local, authentic feel. The screenplay was written in Urdu by Moheeb Khan and the team claims it is Yorkshire's first Urdu drama.
The project was funded by Mr Yaqoob. Local firms provided their premises free for filming and auditions, and loaned music equipment. A Mercedes used in one scene was supplied by Mirza Travel, of Lumb Lane.
Mr Yaqoob said the film, which will be screened for the first time on Sunday, is the culmination of a three-year project and many people had come to the auditions.
"Everyone on the team is an amateur. We decided we only wanted people who had not acted professionally before and had to turn away people with experience."
"The style of filming is very different to what would normally be seen on TV. We are interested in getting feedback from the public to see if they like what we have done. "
Some members of the film team have since joined other creative projects, including Rafiq Butt, who went to work on stage at Bradford's Alhambra Theatre. Another of the actors has landed a part in Bollywood Blockbuster, Kabie Khushi, Kabie Gham.
The screening will be on Sunday, doors open 6.30pm, followed by a live performance of the title song by the film's lead actor, Wajid Rehman.
