A couple from Lancashire have crossed the border and are hoping to keep the Steeton fish and chip shop tradition alive.
Darren and Elaine Ozard, from Rawtenstall, fell in love with Steeton and the village's quaint fish and chip shop, Steeton Fisheries.
They are looking forward to getting to know the villagers and, since taking over the business last Wednesday, say they have received a warm welcome so far.
Elaine says: "There are some regular customers here and the shop works really well so we've decided not to change a winning formula.
"The prices have stayed exactly the same and we were trained up by the previous owners for three weeks on how to get the cooking just right.
"We have been kept busy so far and are really enjoying it. Everyone in the village has been so nice and welcoming and have congratulated us on the tasty fish and chips, so we're doing something right!"
Darren used to be a mechanic but is learning his new trade well and Elaine, who has lots of experience in catering, says they are both enjoying the work.
The couple, who plan to live in the village in future, are also hoping to give the shop a lick of paint and a bit of refurbishment.
Elaine added: "We basically want to let people know that we are here and that the quality won't be changing. We have kept the same prices and the main difference is that we are open every dinner time and on Saturday tea time."
