ROB RILEY is set to captain Keighley RUFC as the club prepares to launch its new campaign in Yorkshire Division One.
After gaining promotion from Yorkshire 2 in a superb season last year, they are aiming for further success, but face some tough opposition, including go-ahead club Huddersfield YMCA, where former Cougar coach Phil Larder honed his rugby union skills before becoming England RFU's defensive coach.
The club opens its campaign tomorrow Saturday with a home training game against Ilkley, which will be followed by a trip to Settle for a meeting with North Ribblesdale. They open their league campaign with the visit of Huddersfield YMCA to Utley on September 6.
Coach Tim Brunskill continues to be in charge of the team off the field and a number of players are returning to the club after studying at university, including Tom McCartha and Jack McPhail. Matt Gaffney will also be returning from Huddersfield and can slot into a role at fullback or centre.
Nathaniel Small, who has experience at Bradford & Bingley and Wharfedale has also joined the Keighley club.
The club is also due to back the young team which did so well last season.
