Hor air balloons soared away into the sky at the start of Metro '78 Spectacular at Horsfall Stadium, Bradford. Music from the fairground blared out, there were events in two arenas, lots of trade stands and about three this going off at once all the time. The weather was overcast and rain threatened at one stage but did not appear. The Barratt helicopter seemed to be landing and taking off all day and a Barratt's free fall team floated through the sky with rainbow coloured parachutes.
