Pudsey Congs have the most lethal bowler in the Bradford League in their overseas star Naveed Rana ul-Hassan.
But, in a classic example of unselfishness, their club captain Matthew Doidge is backing a potential rule change that could see the Pakistani restricted to 15 overs an innings in league matches.
There is already a ten-over per man restriction in Priestley Cup and Shield matches.
At a captains' meeting at Congs, Bradford League secretary Bob Shackleton threw open for discussion a possible restriction on the number of overs a bowler can deliver in league matches.
He said that Bradford and Bingley had proposed the 15-over limit last year, but it was thrown out.
Yorkshire Bank had proposed something similar many years ago, but again without success.
And, bearing in mind that the whole tenor of the meeting was that things should be for the benefit of the league as a whole rather than any club's self interest, Doidge said: "For the good of cricket in the league we should have a 15-over restriction on bowlers in first-team matches and maybe ten overs per bowler in the second team."
Doidge added that he thought overseas players would still join the league even with a restriction such as this.
Meanwhile, the Bradford League are considering a radical change to their points system.
Currently a team gains six points for a win, four points for a winning draw (where the team batting first have scored more runs but failed to bowl the opposition out), three points for a tie, one point for a losing draw or where there is no result because of rain, and no points for a loss.
However, league secretary Bob Shackleton has drafted a new points system which he unveiled at the captains' meeting.
Under the new system an outright win would gain ten points and an incomplete win (when the opposition are not bowled out) eight points.
If the team batting second are not bowled out, they would claim three points if they manage 90 per cent or more of the winning side's score.
If their total is between 70 per cent and 90 per cent of the opposition's they would get two points.
A tie would result in five points for each team, and the terms losing draw and winning draw, with Shackleton's grateful thanks, would be consigned to the dustbin.
If a match is not started because of weather or unfit grounds or a definite result is not achieved because of the weather each team would receive four points.
