A high-visibility property marking scheme is being run by a Keighley business watch.

Members of the Dalton Lane Business Watch have put up signs alerting would-be criminals to the existence of the business watch.

The aim is to remind people that the businesses in the area work closely together and with the police to stop crime.

The Dalton Lane watch was the first to be set up in the police division and has been running for nearly three years.

In this time the area has seen a massive reduction of crime and a better quality of life for employers, employees and students at Keighley College.

PC Adrian Foyston said: "The signs will let people know that the business watch is operating in the area.

"The watch has accomplished a lot since it was started and has been seen as a good role model for newer business watches."

It has a partnership approach with the Keighley Anti-crime Partnership and the police.

People who regularly attend the meetings include Chris Slaven, PC Adrian Foyston, Councillor David Emmott, Patrick Lawton, Det Chief Insp Roger Gasson, and last year Councillor Margaret Eaton and MP Ann Cryer both attended.

Each meeting gives businesses details of crime trends, patterns and brief details of incidents that have occurred.

It offers good crime prevention advice to businesses, as well as new suggestions as to how to improve security.
