A couple have turned to television to resolve their karaoke conundrum.

Tracey Hall's love of the Japanese entertainment is the root of many arguments between herself and husband Simon.

The 37-year-old, who started singing as a child, performs karaoke at the pub, at her Keighley home and even on holiday.

The Ash Mount pair have been at each other's throats because Simon, 40, claims her hobby has become an obsession resulting in arguments, particularly about the money involved.

Tracey said: "I have been doing it about 25 years. It is a hobby but my husband says it has become an obsession."

Tracey, who used to perform with Holycroft Youth Theatre, first entered and duly won a singing competition as a 12-year-old on a family holiday.

From there she has continued the hobby and is a regular on Sundays at the Three Horses pub, Fell Lane.

And this year she took part in the karaoke marathon during Keighley Festival, after receiving a call at 6am.

She added: "The arguments can get quite serious because we cannot always afford for me to go out all the time. It causes a lot of arguments.

"I say to him I won't go out but sometimes I am secretly texting my cousin, Nicola, to plan to go along with her."

Simon, a logistics manager at Unity Tyres, said: "It is something she likes and I have to put up with it but it drives me mad.

We know she can sing but the obsession, the nagging, the money spent, the arguments -- it's terrible."

To solve their dilemma the pair have sought the help of a new television show, which will be filmed later this month and screened in the autumn.

The ITV1 series, Jane & Jury, hosted by singer Jane McDonald, will pit the pair -- backed up by two supporters -- against each other.

Tracey will be defended by her husband's brother and cousin, who join in the fun. Simon's backers will be their pair's son, Ben, and one of Tracey's work colleagues.

Tracey, who works on casualty reception at Airedale Hospital, said she always wanted to change her shifts if they clashed with her Sunday-night karaoke.

After a discussion between the two parties, a celebrity panel will decide the couple's fates.

Tracey added: "I will have to stand by the decision -- but Nicola has said we will have to go somewhere different where nobody knows us."

Assistant producer Jo Maris said: "Simon has clearly got to his wits end with Tracey's singing and even goes into the cellar to get away from the noise! But Tracey gets a lot of support from her family and friends -- so it should be an interesting debate."

The series starts on September 7, at 6.30pm, and runs each Sunday for six weeks.
