In recent years summer has become the time when Keighley bands come out to play.

The revels continue with gigs by local outfits in Bradford tomorrow and Keighley next Saturday.

First up is this year's second -- and biggest -- Boardfest showcasing bands from the "web community" Noseboard.

The bands, whose members congregate on the Internet, appear at Pennington's nightclub, Bradford, from 2pm to midnight.

The running order is likely to be Circus?, Misled Vision, Dudley Town, Ninepoundnote, Operator 6, Random Hand, Shatterhand, Dubius, Breene, Brand New Analogues and Fine Apple. The second gig, on September 6, brings bands playing a diverse array of rock styles to Keighley's Victoria Hall, along with a rock DJ and late bar.

Hometown metal heroes Diavolo, along with Preston's Wasted Earth and Keighley's Honeytoad, support top Bradford band Bloodstream.

Diavolo promise an arsenal of thumping metal tunes just right for Keighley's heavy metal monsters.

Wasted Earth are not so heavy, blending various styles, including ska and Jimi Hendrix and Santana sounds. The concert is the first from the recently-formed Real Music Promotions, alias Keighley men Paul Wilson and Simon Clark, in association with Koe Music.

Paul and Simon aim to showcase unsigned talent, first in rock and then dance and R&B.

Tickets cost £5 from Keighley Information Centre, in the town hall, Mix Music, in Skipton, and The White Bear, in Eastburn.

n Blondel is back in Keighley to play the Three Horses, Fell Lane, tomorrow.

n Paul Young was big in the Eighties with hits like Wherever I Lay My Hat and Every Time You Go Away. His music is very different when he plays Hebden Bridge Trades Club tonight with his tex-mex band Los Pacaminos.

The good-time guys play a stomping blend of Mexican music and country-blues from south-western America. Phone 01422 845265 to check ticket availability.
