Crook Town 2, Guiseley 3: A hat-trick from FA Cup talisman Ryan Senior saw Guiseley through their tricky preliminary round tie in the north-east but they squandered a 2-0 lead and had to wait until the last minute to clinch victory.
Guiseley got off to a dream start when Senior netted in the sixth minute. A quick pivot saw him facing goal fully 20 yards out but he lashed a shot into the corner to the keeper's left.
A host of chances followed, including a penalty for Mark Stuart that was saved, but the visitors did not double their lead until three minutes after the interval. Jeremy Illingworth's through ball found Senior and he drilled in a right-foot shot.
Crook's Paul Dalton had a spot-kick of his own saved by Andy Lamb in the 53rd minute but he was not be denied a goal. In fact he claimed a brace in the 55th and 65th minutes to level the tie.
Senior took the ball into the area at the death and kept his cool to round the home keeper before slotting in the winner. "It came right at the end but we were guilty of some shabby defending after playing so well in the first half," said Guiseley manager Neil Parsley.
"After going 2-0 up we decided to press the self destruct button and that made it a nail-biter. We were good value for the win but we made it hard for ourselves."
