Thackley 0, Ossett 1: Thackley tumbled out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle as Ossett Town from UniBond Division One scrapped to a narrow win at Dennyfield.
"It was a very close game and I consider us to be unfortunate not to have come away with something from it," said Thackley boss John Boyle.
"Ian Briggs had a one-on-one that was saved and Danny Lawler had an effort tipped onto the bar by their keeper. We also had at least a dozen good attacking moves that deserved better finishing.
"They took the lead early and that was because some of our players showed them too much respect at the start. We had a good last 15 minutes of the first half and dominated the second but couldn't make the breakthrough.
"Their goal was real fluke, a cruel blow. It is really disappointing because we wanted a run in the cup this season and set a lot of store by this game."
The visitors won a sixth-minute corner and when it was dropped into the area Danny Farrand attempted to clear. He only succeeded in slicing the ball and it looped over his own keeper Aaron Brian.
Thackley did most of the pressing and Town's Michael Clarke was the busier of the two keepers.
