A NEW head teacher has taken over at an independent preparatory school in Ilkley.

David Morse began his appointment at Clevedon House School on Monday, ahead of the new academic year.

Following on from the Reverend Alex Munro, who stepped down earlier this year, Mr Morse is a fully qualified teacher, who holds the PGCE teaching certificated, and has a BSc in Natural Science.

He also has 20 years of experience in the Independent Preparatory school sector in the UK and abroad.

Mr Morse said he was delighted at becoming the new head teacher of Clevedon House. "This is a wonderful opportunity for my family and myself," he said.

"The school is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and both my children have settled in really well already.

"They are taking full advantage of the swimming pool, sports hall and new adventure trail as well as making new friends.

"I myself look forward to building on the academic excellence of the school and reaching even higher standards by our 100th anniversary in 2005."

Mr Morse added that visitors were always welcome at the school, which holds its next Open Day on Saturday, October 11.
