A councillor is calling on people in the district to spearhead a nationwide campaign to stop the closure of small post offices.
Andrew Carter (Con, Pudsey North) claims people living in areas where post offices are closing will be inconvenienced, particularly the elderly and those without their own transport.
"People from areas where post offices face closure should mount their own campaign to keep those post offices," he said. And he urged residents to contact councillors and make their voices heard in a battle to maintain vital services.
Four offices in the Bradford district have been closed under the Post Office's Network Reinvention programme announced last November.
Two post offices in Cleckheaton have closed, along with one in Keighley and one in Shipley.
Post Office Ltd announced it is planning to restructure and modernise its national network of more than 9,000 urban post office branches. The Post Office blames the falling income on too many outlets competing for too little business.
Now Bradford Road Post Office in Stanningley and Rodley Post Office in Rodley Lane face closure in November.
David Mellows-Facer, head of area for the Post Office, said: "Proposals to close post office branches are not made without considerable research and discussion.
"So we are anxious that customers and all relevant organisations understand out rationale and have the opportunity to give us their views."
People can express their views before the final decision is made by writing to David Mellows-Facer, National Consulation Team, PO Box 641, St Albans, AL1 5XN.
The closing date is Wednesday, October 8.
