AN entry in this year's Yorkshire in Bloom competition has seen Addingham walking off with second prize.
The South Craven village had entered the small country town category and was pipped at the post by Swanland.
However, it was the recipient of the Gordon Crowther Memorial Trophy for the best spring display in the same category.
The individual comments given to Addingham were that the private gardens were to a high standard and that High Hills Mews complex was particularly worthy of note.
The judges also liked the colourful planted areas around the town, but suggested reviewing ways to show off its best features for future competitions.
Bolton Abbey Estate was placed third in tourist and visitor attractions and Airedale General Hospital was eighth in the public, private and charitable establishments.
Wood Nook Caravan Park, Threshfield took fourth place in the caravan, camping and chalet parks class and Marchup Gill, Addingham took fourth in the wildflower gardens/area
Certificate of merit winners were: Old Station Fisheries, Addingham Village Store and The Crown Inn, all in Addingham.
