Mystery surrounds a road accident that led to the death of a police officer at the Chain Bar roundabout.
Bradford Coroner's Court today heard how Andrew Winterburn was riding a 1100cc Honda motorbike when it hit a kerb on the roundabout near the city on Wednesday.
He was then 'propelled' along the road before striking a traffic light post in the incident.
After the emergency services arrived, efforts were made to revive him, but the 43-year-old died at the scene.
Coroner's officer Peter Rose told the hearing the motorbike was free from any defects and no other vehicles were involved.
Mr Winterburn, who lived in Little Fenton, North Yorkshire, joined the police force in 1979.
He was described as an experienced motorcyclist who was trained to an 'advanced standard'.
Coroner Roger Whittaker adjourned the inquest for further inquiries to be made.
