Pudsey Congs didn't need to wait until yesterday's clash with second-placed Spen Victoria before wrapping up their fourth successive Specialist Ducting Supplies Bradford League title.
Congs also confirmed Gomersal's relegation with a seven-wicket victory at Oxford Road on Saturday.
But Spen still needed at least a winning draw at Pudsey St Lawrence to keep the title alive - at least until their top-of-the-table clash at the Britannia Ground.
Ironically, however, Saints did derby rivals Congs a favour by defeating Spen by eight wickets at Tofts Road.
Adrian Rooke did the damage for St Lawrence, returning magnificent figures of eight for 18 off 13.4 overs as Spen were dismissed for just 88. Stewart Smith then made 54 not out.
Glen Roberts again proved what a fine left-arm spinner he is by taking five for 27 as Gomersal, who needed a win to stay alive, were bowled out for 137.
Gomersal collapsed from 100 for three, but skipper Bradley Parker made a defiant 61 as Naveed Rana ul-Hassan brought his wicket tally over 70 with three for 41.
It was a situation taylor-made for Congs opener Andy Bethel, and he anchored the innings with 44, Barbar Butt finishing on 39 not out.
With Gomersal already gone, second-from-bottom Yeadon went yesterday after third-from-bottom East Bierley defeated them at South View Road.
On Saturday Yeadon were beaten at home by two wickets by Hanging Heaton.
Yeadon skipper Grant Soames made 61 of their 153 for nine, Simon Purdy taking five for 30 for the Batley side off 15 economical overs.
Opener Javed Umarji (62) and Ishmail Dawood (29) added 74 for Hanging Heaton's second wicket, but they were indebted to overseas player Jayson Hopkins (28 not out) after that as Soames' five for 38 took matters close to the wire.
Baildon moved into third after some big-hitting by Phil Slater (115) helped them to 299 for eight at home to misfiring East Bierley.
Skipper Simon Davies (44) added 115 with him for the second wicket and Tom Atkinson (51 not out) and Mushtaq Ahmed (29) had some late fun as avoiding cricket balls became a part-time occupation for those watching the rugby match on the adjacent pitch at Jenny Lane. Lee Goddard's adventurous 112 and 66 from James Goldthorp enabled Bierley to comfortably gain a point at 224 for six, however.
Ian Austin (54) continued his fine form as Cleckheaton gained a winning draw over Farsley.
Opener Andrew Gale (81) helped his captain put on 102 for the third wicket after Adam Patel and warren Stephenson had gone with only 14 on the board.
Farsley were two for two at one stage, but Ashley Metcalfe (38), Asim Munir (32) and John Godlthorp (45) were solid enough in the middle order to enable Farsley to reach 141 for eight.
Far from being in the relegation mix anymore, Idle are now almost in the mid-table mix after their home win over Undercliffe. Mark Gilliver (53 and four catches), Ian Dewhurst (6-33) and Steve Lawrence (37 and 4-33) proved the match-winners at Cavendish Road, but Gavin Lyons' 31 should not be overlooked. Greg Lambert's six for 56 for Undercliffe, allied to Rooke's efforts for Saints, proved what a fine day it was for very tall pacemen.
Sarfraz Ahmed (5-30) and Richard Spittlehouse (5-29) proved an irresistible combination for Woodlands in their nine-wicket home victory over Mirfield.
They bowled unchanged as the Heavy Woollen Cup winners were shot out for 60, and Woodlands took only 7.5 overs to knock them off to end a barren run for the Priestley Cup runners-up.
