COLWYN BAY 1 Farsley CELTIC 0: The Celts' first trip to the Welsh coast for a league game against Colwyn Bay proved to be anything but a nice day out at the seaside with the recently relegated side edging a dour game.

Farsley showed little in terms of skill or desire as they slumped to defeat in UniBond Division One against the side who came down from the Premier Division last term after winning just five games out of 44.

The only goal of the game - in the 51st minute - had a desperate element to it, which suggested both sides were frightened of losing. Certainly neither side proved beyond reasonable doubt that they wanted the points.

Celts keeper Tom Morgan can consider himself unfortunate to have been beaten by the one strike that meant him retrieving the ball from the back of his net.

A cross from the right flank was floated over and met by a header that hit the post but Morgan was already in flight in his attempt to save.

He was grounded by the time Joe McMahon thumped the rebound into the bottom corner of the net. "I didn't enjoy that display at all and the players were made aware of that after the game," said Celts boss Lee Sinnott.

"We had one spell of ten or 15 minutes in the second half when we looked half-decent but if Colwyn had been better they would have won by three of four goals. From our point of view it was very poor."
