Showjumping and ferret-racing were among the events that took place at this year's Keighley Show.

The rain did not deter visitors as thousands poured through the gates to see the finest breeds of animals win prizes.

Among the competitors were classes of cattle, sheep and poultry judged by the region's animal experts.

Shire horses and Shetland ponies drew crowds to the horse section while the showjumpers displayed their skills in the ring.

Dogs with the waggiest tails and the most appealing eyes were among those winning prizes for their looks while other cute canines were judged on their skills.

Pet-owning youngsters had the chance to show-off their rabbits, hamsters and guinea-pigs in the children's pet section.

The creative entrants won prizes for china-decoration, knitting, and needlework while culinary experts displayed their delights in the baking and preserves sections which included a fiercely competitive baking contest for children.

Awards were won for home-produced honey and wine while green-fingered horticulturists showed-off their produce in the flower and vegetable section.

A large display of vintage tractors pre-dating 1952 was an interesting focal point while the food and craft stalls meant there was plenty for visitors to buy.

The Mayor of Keighley, Nancy Holdsworth, presented some of the prizes.

She said: "It was a marvellous show and such a big event for Keighley. The weather brightened-up which ensured a good turnout."

The show, organised by the Keighley and District Agricultural Society, was also attended by the Deputy Lord Mayor and Deputy Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Councillor Grahame Thornton. Pictured is Dave Turner, preparing his ferret aspen for a race.
