Shows will go on in Bradford - despite the closure of the city's usual concert venue.

Theatre staff have been working round the clock to find different venues and dates for shows lined up for this season at St George's Hall.

Customers are also being contacted by phone, letter and e-mail, keeping them up-to-date with the change of plans.

The hall had to be closed after fears that cracks in the auditorium roof made it unsafe.

Scaffolding is now being erected ready for examination by experts.

Only four shows have been cancelled but others have been moved to the Alhambra, some have been postponed until after St George's re-opens and others will now be staged at Pennington's nightclub in the city.

Michael Ball is the only star who has had to go out of Bradford - he will now be appearing at The Victoria Theatre in Halifax on November 26.

The shows at Pennington's are the Windmill Health and Strength event on October 25, The Saw Doctors on December 9 and Thornton Vocal Union Christmas Carol Concert on December 14.

The Alhambra will take on Def Leppard on October 19, Bradford band Smokie on October 20, the Halle Orchestra on October 21, the Festival of Remembrance on November 2 and another performance by the Halle Orchestra on November 23.

Rescheduled shows at St George's are Xtravaganza on January 5, The Circus of Horrors on January 17, Roll Out The Barrel on February 11, Dennis Locorriere on March 26, Halfway To Paradise - The Billy Fury Story on May 19.

The cancelled shows are Noddy, Mamma Mia, Bollywood Nights and Rigoletto.

St George's will open again on January 4 with a performance by the Halle orchestra.

And funnyman Ken Dodd will be keeping his spot at St George's on February 28.
