When Lisa Vallo started painting in her spare time it was nothing more than a hobby - now her work is being exhibited for the first time and is on sale in two galleries.

Lisa, of Baildon, pictured with daughter Issy, took time out from her catering business when she had her baby Ysabella last December.

Now her painting has taken off, she's planning to be a full-time artist.

"I've always been interested in art and just did it as a hobby. I've never had any formal training, I just love to paint," she said.

"I do mainly contemporary abstracts. Some of my work happened to be spotted by Anthony Mellor (the husband of television drama and film writer Kay Mellor).

"He loved it and decided to put it in his gallery, Art, in Headingley, Leeds.

"He sold two in just three days. I couldn't believe it!

"Then a friend saw some of my work hanging in my mum's kitchen and decided to put it in his gallery, The White Rose, in Leeds."

Now Lisa's work is about to go on display at Shipley Library.

Lisa's exhibition of abstracts runs from Monday, October 20, to Saturday, October 25.
