Punters swapped pints for pushovers to raise more than £1,400 for the Royal British Legion Steve Roberts Challenge.
Lads and lasses, pictured, from the Malt Shovel pub in Baildon battled it against each other in a fancy dress rugby match at Baildon Rugby Club yesterday to raise funds for the charity set up in memory of Sgt Roberts. Sgt Roberts, 32, right, who lived in Shipley with his wife Samantha, was one of the first British serviceman to die in combat during the Gulf War in March.
Spearheaded by the Royal British Legion and supported by his widow, the seven-week challenge has invited pubs to help raise £10,000 for former service personnel and their families. The pub has already raised £500 when staff sold themselves off to punters to be slaves for a day and £800 with a sponsored head shave.
